HOMMA Group, a hybridized technology designer, builder, and developer, has announced a 10- to 15-unit townhouse project in Portland, Oregon. Expected to begin construction in the second half of this year, HOMMA HAUS Woodstock will be the company’s second pre-configured smart-home community in Portland following HOMMA HAUS Mount Tabor.

"As the industry moves away from DIY [technology], ‘more technology’ or ‘the best apps’ won't make home life better, but the correct combination of technology will. At HOMMA, our goal is to make modern living simple, intuitive, and turnkey," says Takeshi (Ted) Homma, HOMMA Group founder and CEO.

Based in Japan and Silicon Valley, HOMMA develops proprietary, AI-powered smart technology that blends with modern architecture and design, and sourced quality materials. Each HOMMA HAUS' curated technology comes pre-installed and ready for use from day one, and the system is updated regularly via the cloud while all hardware is housed discretely in a central hub in the home, HOMMA says.

“All technology is fully integrated into the structure and blends into the minimalist interior design. There is virtually nothing the homeowner needs to worry about or manage,” Homma says.

Within the pre-configured tech package, each HOMMA HAUS Woodstock will feature connected door locks, keyless entry, a connected thermostat, automated window shades, and adaptive lighting all controlled from the HOMMA app. The townhomes’ adaptive lighting experience includes not having to touch switches and offers automatic adjustments to brightness and lighting temperature.

“The lights are customizable on the app for your specific lifestyle and needs. In addition, we will have custom lighting controllers for easy access to various home scenes and a smooth lighting experience, such as sleeping mode, chill mode, movie mode, makeup, etc.,” Homma adds. For the Woodstock project, HOMMA has plans to further improve the app experience to increase its simplicity for homeowners.

HOMMA expects to reach completion of the project in late 2024. Other projects by the developer include HOMMA HAUS Waterside in Benicia, California, and HOMMA ZERO in Hayward, California.
